Woodland's revolutionary 'Biodegradable footwear'

Woodland is a brand known for its eco friendly initiatives to strengthen its association with the environment. The range of biodegradable footwear is in association with the company’s CSR initiative Proplanet, a wing dedicated to making our mother Earth a better place to live in. It is one of the most exciting environmental innovations to be witnessed by the footwear industry.

The global apparel and footwear brand offers biodegradable shoes and sandals that are sturdy, durable and aesthetically designed. Woodland has pioneered a new way of looking at shoes that contribute in sustaining the environment.  As there is no major processing involved, the materials used are free of any harmful substances. The outer sole and heel is made of crepe rubber (natural raw rubber) and the upper is made of vegetable tanned leather, which has also been utilized in the lining of the shoe. Cellulose has been used to make the insole, the toe puffs and the counters. The insock / footbed is made of latex foam and duly covered by vegetable tanned leather. Water based rubber adhesive has been used for fabrication and the upper has been stitched to the insole and the sole. The thread and the laces are made of cotton.

The Footwear Design & Development Institute, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India has certified the shoes as biodegradable and eco-friendly.

Enjoy Outdoor with your Kids!!!

Spending quality time with your children is extremely important for their development and happiness. We must find ways then to slow down and slip in some memorable time that will let our children know that we love and care for them. Enjoying the Outdoors with Your Kids is a brilliant way to inculcate the spirit of outdoor in your little ones.

So here are some tips to enjoying the outdoors with your little soldiers.

1.      Get used to the family tent.
Try a ‘make a tent’ session with your kids in your backyard. This will help your kids know the nuances of living outdoors.

2.      Don’t be ambitious.
Plan your days for short hikes and plenty of time on either end. Learn from your kid as he stops for hours to admire a rock or a bug—at least he is living in the moment! So why can’t you?

3.      Toys and books are key.
End your hiking day sitting on a rock by a river admiring the sublime sunset or reciting a poem to your kid or help your child end his days pushing dirt around in toy dump truck and put him to sleep to his favorite stories. So pack some books and toys.

4.      A cool water bottle helps with hydration.
Find a cool water bottle in bright colors and emblazoned with your child’s favorite cartoon character to encourage him to hydrate.

5.      Kids love company.
Adults are useful when it comes to things like carrying you and feeding you and reading you books. But when it comes to throwing rocks in a river or playing with plastic dinosaurs, other kids are more fun. Make family time quality time by traveling in a pack with other families with kids.

6.       Stay low.
Alpine and mountains are majestic, but depending on their altitude, can be dangerous to your child. Children are more susceptible to altitude-related illnesses, so if you can, stay under 10,000 feet.

7.     Bring yummy snacks.
When you backpack, food is fuel. Kids are as picky in outdoors as they are at home,
so pack some fun snacks like yummy sandwiches, fruit tarts and animal crackers.

8.      Pack an extra layer—your kid’s favourite costume.
The most technical fleece and down layers might keep him warm, but don’t help him hike any faster. But donning a  Batman costume, suddenly transforms the kid into a super hero, leaping from rock to rock and flying uphill with the aid of his grappling hook. It’s cheap and lightweight, so pack a costume if your kid is into that thing.
