Woodland celebrates ‘Earth Day’

Taking forward its commitment for a greener planet under our Proplanet (A Woodland CSR initiative) and to celebrate Earth day 2012, Woodland initiated a step forward in the Proplanet mission of planting trees across the country. Commencing the cause, Woodland Team along with each participant of Dare2Drive Corporate Edition Rally planted over 100 plant saplings at in Bengaluru. The occasion was graced with the presence of a lot of Senior Corporate members from the city.



Woodland Team was in the town while supporting the Corporate Edition of ‘Dare2Drive’ as their ‘Green Apparels partner’. Woodland, has been supporting adventure and daring events across the country while ensuring minimizing and negating its effect on the environment by planting trees. A bunch of 100 leading rallies from various Corporates participated in the Dare2Drive at Aloft Bengaluru Whitefield Hotel and culminated at same venue in Bangalore.



The campaign is an extension of Woodland’s Proplanet initiative which is Woodland’s commitment to work towards making the earth a better place to live in. The event was yet another laurel to Woodland’s kitty of CSR activities.

WATERPROOF SHOES FROM WOODLAND


The Woodland, Waterproof outdoor shoe is an innovative product  and is a result of two years of extensive R&D and caters to the demand of adventure enthusiasts who need additional protection to fight the challenges thrown by nature.



The best of materials have been selected for the manufacturing of the footwear. Premium leather has been used for extra comfort and durability. Waterproof ceiling tape has been used for attaching lining joints. The shoe is also equipped with Specialised rubber soles for abrasion resistance and extra grip. Lining laminates consist of three layers: One side is a light knitted mesh while the other side is bonded with a textile shoe lining that has an ultrathin waterproof membrane to keep the feet absolutely wet free. Foam padding has been added all around for extra comfort and support. The laces are durable and rest in rust free metal fittings and waterproof threads for long lasting wear. To top it off usage was made of a padded collar for a comfortable fit that locks out debris. In order to meet the strict requirements for waterproof products, no tacks are used in the lasting process. Direct attach waterproof-construction ensures safe & dry feet.

'ProPlanet climbs Everest’ to spread its message of cleanliness and conserving the environment!

As part of its commitment to the environment, ProPlanet – the CSR initiative of Woodland joined hands with leading Indian mountaineer Mr. Love Raj Singh Dharmshaktu for its Eco-Everest Expedition ‘ProPlanet Climbs Everest’. Mr.Harkirat Singh, MD, Woodland flagged him off for the expedition to spread its message of cleaner and greener environment. Proplanet is a community to preserve the delicate ecological balance to ensure that Earth stays just as beautiful always.


Due to the increased level of pollution at Mount Everest, the brand has taken this initiative to inspire the next generation of enthusiasts and increase their participation in conserving nature. ProPlanet (a Woodland CSR initiative) and renowned moutaineer Loveraj Singh Dharmshaktu share similar ideologies and hence the two have collaborated for the issue. He will revisit the mighty Everest during his expedition, starting March, 2012.



Since inception, Woodland is an outdoor adventure brand. Climbing Mt. Everest is a demanding and challenging route. Woodland has always supported adventure expeditions however, Everest remains a beacon of exploration and this expedition is to honor its rich past. Woodland is extremely excited and proud to be associated with an exciting project like this especially when its ProPlanet, cleaning & conserving the environment.



 To climb Mt Everest, Loveraj Singh went under an extensive tarining period of nine months and praticed his breathing as well as technical skills. For this expedition he will be accompanied by Apa Sherpa (Base Camp Manager) who has climbed Mt. Everest 21 times, along with his team of fifteen members. Three high altitude sherpas will carry all food and gear to higher camps and common climbing equipment. As the expedition revolves around adventure and eco-friendly theme, he will collect the trash and clean the mountains. Loveraj will be in touch with his associates at the basecamp via satellite phones for all the latest updates.
