Sports cars and bikes dashing on the dirt track set on the Panangad Synthite Ground gave racing enthusiasts a new high this weekend.
"Woodlands - Dirt Track Race 2012," organised by the Sign Events in association with the Cochin Racing Club (CRC) on 25th February 2012. Managing Director Woodland, Mr. Harkirat Singh flaged-off the race.
Though CRC has been holding a bike race since 2000 in Fort Kochi, it is for the first time that cars were made part of the race.
It was a 2.2-km closed track event and consisted of high speed sections as well as a series of bends and turns so that driver and vehicle are tested to the hilt. "
The event has the recognition of the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India, National Sports Federation, Federation Internationale de Automobile, Paris Federation, Federation Internationale de Motoycisme, Geneva, and the Indian Olympic Association.
The four-wheelers raced on the first day and two-wheelers the next day. Competition was held in five classes for cars and six classes for bikes.
